A MobiCUBE I-T750 system with a customised LTM (Load Transfer Module) has been designed for a company operating in the intralogistics sector, with the aim of automating the flow of boxes between the forming machine, the filling machines, and the sealing and palletising line. The objective is to ensure a continuous, safe and fully integrated process throughout the entire production line.
The operating cycle involves the retrieval of 4 empty boxes from the forming machine via an LTS (Load Transfer Station), followed by their transfer to the production machines via the customer’s roller conveyors. Once the filling stage is complete, the system picks up 4 full boxes from the production machines via an LTS equipped with a buffer function and transfers them to the sealing, taping and palletising line, again via the customer’s roller conveyors. This ensures a continuous, stable and perfectly balanced flow between all stages of the production process.
Issues resolved:
- Safety: the complete automation of material handling eliminates the need for forklift trucks and the manual handling of boxes weighing around 25kg, significantly reducing risks to operators and improving overall safety in the production area.
- Operational efficiency: the direct, automated link between the various stages of the process reduces waiting times and optimises production continuity, avoiding interruptions and bottlenecks.
- Ergonomics and reduction of manual labour: repetitive and physically demanding tasks are eliminated, improving working conditions and freeing operators from low-value-added tasks.
- Process traceability: every movement of the boxes is monitored by the system, enabling precise, real-time management of material flows throughout the line.
- Optimisation of internal logistics: automated transfer management reduces the number of vehicles and internal movements, improving order and flow within the production area.
- Rapid implementation: the solution was installed and made operational in just 5 days, with minimal impact on plant operations.
